4) Cancelled Cheque: A cancelled cheque is required to ensure the smooth functioning of your GST account by providing the bank details where your tax payments will be credited.

1. Normal Taxpayers:


If you are a normal taxpayer, you need to obtain a registration certificate from the concerned authority. This registration certificate will be valid for a period of 5 years. You need to submit the following documents along with the application form for registration:


a) PAN card

b) Address proof

c) Photograph

d) Bank account details

e) Authorization letter (if someone else is filing your return)

f) Details of turnover for the previous financial year


Documents Required for Normal Taxpayers for GST Registration


1. Application form duly signed by the authorized signatory.

2. Photograph of the applicant.

3. Address proof of the applicant - any one of the following: 

-Registered rent agreement 

-Utility bills like electricity, water etc. (not more than 3 months old) 

-Property tax receipts 

4. PAN Card of the applicant or the business entity 

5. Bank account statement or canceled cheque leaf (not more than 3 months old) with IFSC code mentioned on it 

6. Proof of business establishment - any one of the following: 

-Shop and establishment certificate/registration certificate/license issued by competent authority 

-Income tax return filed by the business entity for preceding financial year or any other financial document like balance sheet etc.


PAN Card


A PAN card is a must for every taxpayer. It is a 10-digit unique identification number issued by the Income Tax Department. It is required for filing income tax returns, making tax payments and other financial transactions.


While registering for GST, you will have to furnish your PAN details. Hence, it is important to keep your PAN card handy while starting the registration process.


Bank Account Details


There are a few things you need to have in order before you can register for GST. This includes your business name, CIN, contact details and bank account details.


Your business name is the name that you trade under. This is the name that will appear on your invoices and other correspondence.


Your Company Identification Number (CIN) is a 11 digit number that uniquely identifies your business.


Your contact details include your email address and phone number. These are important so that the ATO can contact you if they need to.


Finally, you will need to provide your bank account details. This is so that the ATO can deposit any refunds due to you into your account. It is also used to pay any amounts owing to the ATO.


Business Address Proof


The most common and easily acceptable business address proof for GST registration are: 


1. Rent Agreement 

2. Sale Deed/ Lease Deed 

3. Electricity Bill 

4. Landline Telephone Bill 

5. Water Bill 


 These documents should be in the name of the business or of the proprietor, if the business is not registered. The document should not be older than 3 months from the date of application for registration.


Constitution of the Business


The Constitution of the business is an essential document required for GST registration. It specifies the nature of the business, its registered address, and other important details. The constitution also outlines the roles and responsibilities of the directors, shareholders, and employees.


Photographs and Signature of the Authorized Signatory


The GST registration process requires the submission of several documents, including photographs and a signature of the authorized signatory.


Photographs: Two recent passport-sized photographs of the authorized signatory are required. The photograph should be clear and taken in a lighted area.


Signature of Authorized Signatory: The authorized signatory is the individual who is authorized to sign on behalf of the business. The signature should be in black ink and placed on a white background.


Identification Proof (Aadhar Card or Voter ID)
